Job Description:

Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – SOP


Subject Matter Expert will provide support to National Institute of Health(NIH) and associated agencies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement protocols to receive and process multiple clinical trial and laboratory specimens weekly from NCI clinical and animal protocols.
  • Develop customized programs for cataloging, storing, and tracking use and disposal of valuable human clinical and laboratory specimens in multiple ultralow and liquid nitrogen freezers utilizing   Freezerworks. Provide annual reports of all human specimens as required.
  • Develop and perform protocols for processing of bloods and tissue collected from clinical trials into single cell suspensions.
  • Develop and troubleshoot protocols to extract T-cells and other tumor cell populations from patient samples for single cell transcriptome sequencing, flow cytometric analysis, and functional studies    such as Elispot and cytotoxicity assays.
  • Develop, troubleshoot and standardize protocols to culture and expand extracted T-cells.
  • Develop and perform new molecular assays on human clinical trial specimens using new platforms, such as single cell sequencing.
  • Develop, troubleshoot and perform multispectral immunofluorescence microscopy assays on human and murine specimens.
  • Develop and perform multicolor flow cytometric assays on human clinical trial specimens.
  • Design experiments and perform animal (murine) studies involving animal handling, tumor cell transplantation, immune cell depletion or administration, tumor measurements, and standardize treatment techniques such as intraperitoneal injections, IV tail vein injections and oral gavage.
  • Develop, troubleshoot and perform sterile cell culture techniques such as maintaining and expanding immortalized cell lines.
  • With minimal guidance, independently design and perform laboratory-based immunology and preclinical animal studies.
  • Maintain records of all experiments in laboratory notebook, including planning, execution, outcome and evaluation of experiments performed.
  • Collect, independently analyze and interpret data; perform appropriate statistical analyses and prepare data for authorship of manuscripts.
  • Establish and maintain stocks of valuable cancer cell lines in liquid nitrogen and keep an updated inventory.
  • Prepare, maintain and catalog recombinant DNA stocks, plasmids and vectors, flow cytometry antibody stocks, and tissue bio-specimens.
  • Attend clinical team meetings to prepare for receipt and management of biospecimens.
  • Attend laboratory meetings and present results of independently performed research to staff.
  • Analyze data and prepare presentations for NIH, regional and national meetings.
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Notify principal investigator of any general lab issues that are potentially problematic, so that changes can be made.
